Pyro! is for, well, pyromaniacs. Or at least the sardonic, law-abiding citizen that doesn’t actually want to set buildings on fire, but is perfectly content with watching it happen. This iPhone app is an augmented reality app that allows you to point your camera at anything, and poof! The object and its surroundings show up on your screen, engulfed in flames. Photos and videos of the imposed destruction can be shared on Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter to spread the fiery fun.
What's the point? There is none, really. The nature of the app orients itself towards a senseless kind of novelty, albeit one that is extremely well-designed and innovative. All it does is add fire effects in real time, but it’s interactive and smart. The fire blazes in the same place, even as you move your phone. You can also use your finger to leave trails of flames. The size and explosive quality of the fire can be changed at your whim. This could make for some really great pranks…which is all it can really be good for, but I’m not complaining.
Watch out for troublemakers who get ahold of this app. Sooner or later, you’ll get a picture of your car on fire. Who’s to say what’s real and what’s not?
Pyro! is now live for download. Get it for free in the iOS App Store, here.
