With a newfound demand for smartphone makers to provide devices that support health measurement, Wello, an iPhone accessory is being released which recognizes and serves this need.
Wello offers iPhone users a heart rate monitor on their device, like the Samsung Galaxy S5, sensors to measure ECG, blood pressure, blood oxygen, temperature and other measures.
For this to be done, a special chip embedded within the case as well as two sensors which a user touches with phone use all work to provide an overall look at a persons health at any given time.
Additionally, Wello makes their API available to third party developers so they are able to provide users new iPhone apps to record and monitor what the case has tracked. Currently, outside developers like Fitbit are used for monitoring.
Since the case is Bluetooth LE, it can technically connect to Android devices, however, they company is already exploring options to create cases for Android in the near future.
Wello still needs approval from the FDA as it currently is being marketed as a medical device. It is available for pre-order now for $199 in the U.S. and is expected to ship this fall. More information can be found at https://azoi.com/.
Since there is time before Wello will be accessible for users, there is a demand for further app development that would support Wello regarding fitness tracking and monitoring. There is a need a for a fitness app which would work in conjunction with Wello to better user experience.
