BBM 2.0 Update for iOS and Android Users

February 14th, 2014  |  By Allison Saffiotti

Available now is a new update to the BBM app for iOS and Android. This has added a variety of new features that allow for more ways to chat and share than ever before.

Users can now make direct calls to their BBM contacts via either Wi-Fi or cellular networks with BBM voice. This service is free and easy to use with just the touch of the green telephone icon.

BBM channels provide message-board style group interactions around a variety of topics including hobbies, sports, entertainment, fashion, cars and more. Channels can be created by brands, businesses or users. This is a great way to share information with people with common interests.

Location sharing powered by Glympse lets users share their real-time current location live for a specific amount of time, to let others know their whereabouts when planning to meet. This feature is great for business meetings, especially in situations where you are running late.

Other features include dropbox integration, which allows users to send a file from their personal cloud to a BBM contact. Users can also now share a pic, voice notes, or files with contacts as well.

The features of this new app were originally promised when it launched last year to iOS and Android users, so it is exciting to see that this update is now available.

Blackberry is working hard to build its mobile app development especially with the integration of other mobile platforms. It will be interesting to see where they continue to take the use of BBM, making it a popular resource for mobile users.
